These are commonly recommended starting points collected in November 2026. Platforms change their requirements, so confirm the current rules on each platform's own help pages before a large export.

How to use the checker

Type the width and height of your image in pixels, or choose Check an image file to read the size from a file on your device. The file is read in your browser and never uploaded. The table then compares your image with a commonly recommended size for each channel and shows one of five results:

  • Ready. The shape matches and the image is at least the recommended size.
  • Will be cropped or padded. The image is big enough, but its shape differs, so the platform may crop it or add bars around it.
  • Smaller than recommended. The shape matches, but the image is smaller than the suggested size, so zoom and sharpness may suffer.
  • Different shape and smaller than recommended. Both of the above.
  • Below the minimum size. The image is under a minimum that the platform commonly states, so it may be rejected or shown without zoom.

These values were collected in November 2026 from platform guidance and common seller practice. Platforms change their rules, so treat them as a starting point and confirm them on each platform's help pages.

Background and content rules

Size is only half the story. Amazon asks for the main image on a pure white background with the product filling most of the frame, and no text, logos or props. Its guidance also describes the main image as a photograph of the actual product, so check the current policy before using a render in that slot. Etsy asks for images that accurately represent the item, so if you sell made-to-order pieces from renders, say so in the description. For a clean white background, see white background jewelry images.

Plan one master, then export each shape

The simplest workflow is to set up one scene and export each channel's shape from it. Leave space around the piece so that square, portrait and vertical crops all work, and export each shape at or above the pixel size that channel recommends, so the platform does not have to stretch a small file.

In RenderMyJewels, stills export in eight aspect ratios (1:1, 4:5, 9:16, 16:9, 2:3, 3:2, 3:4 and 4:3) at 1K, 2K, 4K or 8K, or at a custom pixel size. The 2K preset is 2,048 pixels on its long edge, so a square 2K export matches the Shopify size above and covers Amazon, eBay and Instagram. For Etsy, a 4K export in 4:3 is 4,096 × 3,072 pixels, well above the 2,000 pixel shortest side. Because the pose and lighting stay the same, every version matches. Videos use the same aspect ratios at up to 4K.

Check images on a phone

Most shoppers browse on a phone, where a product image may be only a few centimetres wide. After exporting, look at each image at that size. The piece should fill most of the frame and the main stone should still read clearly. The jewelry product image requirements guide has a fuller checklist for each platform.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best image size for Etsy jewelry listings?
A commonly recommended size is 3,000 × 2,250 pixels in a 4:3 shape, with the shortest side at least 2,000 pixels so zoom works well. Square images are also widely used. Check Etsy's current seller help pages before a big upload.
Can one image work for every platform?
Not perfectly, because the shapes differ. A square image works for Amazon, Shopify, eBay and Facebook, but Instagram, Pinterest and Stories favour taller shapes. Export each shape from the same scene so the product looks identical everywhere.
Does DPI matter for online images?
No. Websites and apps display images by their pixel size. DPI only matters when you print. Use the render resolution calculator to plan print sizes.
Is my image uploaded when I check a file?
No. The checker reads only the width and height in your browser. The file never leaves your device.
Why does my image show as below the minimum size?
Its shortest or longest side is under a minimum that the platform commonly states. Go back to the original file or render, export it again at a size that meets the minimum, then check it once more before you upload.
