Turntable (360° video)

A rotating platform, or its 3D equivalent, that spins a product to show it from every side, usually as a 360° video.

Why 360° video sells jewelry

A still image freezes one moment of sparkle and hides the back and sides of a piece. A slow rotation shows the profile, the gallery, the shank and the way stones flash as they move. For buyers who cannot hold the piece, it is the closest thing to turning it in their fingers.

Making a good turntable

  • Speed. One full rotation in roughly 6 to 10 seconds is easy to follow.
  • Angle. A camera slightly above the piece shows the top and the side together.
  • Pose. Stand rings upright or at a slight tilt so the stone faces the camera for part of the turn.
  • Loop. Start and end on the same frame so the video loops without a jump.
  • Lighting. Use a gem environment with distinct highlights so stones flash as they turn.

From CAD in the RenderMyJewels studio

Switch on the turntable in the Pose tab to preview the spin, then export a 360° or multi-angle video from the Video tab. The same scene exports in square, portrait, story and widescreen formats at 1K, 2K or 4K, so one setup covers product pages, Instagram and YouTube. Videos export as WebM files, and any free converter turns them into MP4 for platforms that do not accept WebM.

Where to use them

Product galleries, marketplace listings that accept video, social posts and email campaigns all benefit. Keep clips short and silent so they autoplay smoothly. See aspect ratio for which shape each channel prefers.
