The background decides where an image can be used. Pure white for marketplaces, a soft brand colour for social posts, a deep, dark tone for luxury campaigns. RenderMyJewels gives you 28 background presets and 10 ground styles, so one setup covers every channel.

The background library

The 28 presets fall into a few families, and every colour preset paints the backdrop in a clean, even tone, which keeps product images consistent and easy to compare.

  • Studio tones. Cyclorama, the default warm off-white, plus Light Studio, a soft cool grey, and Dark Studio, close to black.
  • Clean solids. Pure White, Light Gray, Soft Gray, Warm Cream, Beige, Blush, Mint, Sage and Mocha.
  • Deep solids. Teal, Deep Red, Deep Navy, Charcoal, Near Black and Pure Black.
  • Editorial tones. Warm Sunset, Cool Mist, Rose Gold, Emerald Depth, Sapphire Night, Plum, Amber Glow and Mono Fade. Their swatches show a two-colour fade, but the backdrop renders as one flat colour taken from that fade, so judge the look in the viewport rather than the swatch.
  • None. Leaves the scene's own background untouched.

Every export has a solid backdrop. The studio does not export transparent files or real photo backdrops, so if you need a cut-out or a real setting, the options are explained further down this page.

Ground styles explained

A ground is the surface the piece rests on. It decides whether the jewelry looks like it sits in the scene or floats in space. There are 10 styles.

  • None. No surface at all. New models open this way, so you start from a clean scene and add only what you want.
  • Shadow soft, medium, large and XL. A contact shadow under the piece in four sizes. Soft and medium suit rings and studs, large and XL suit bangles, necklaces and sets.
  • Reflective soft, reflective and reflective XL. A subtle floor reflection that adds depth without looking like a mirror.
  • Mirror and mirror XL. A full mirror floor for dramatic luxury shots.

Up to four sliders shape the ground. Y position moves it up or down, opacity softens a shadow, and blur and fade soften a reflection.

Contact shadow or reflection

A soft contact shadow is the safest choice for product listings. It tells the eye where the piece touches the surface and keeps the background clean. Reflections and mirrors are better for social posts, hero banners and luxury campaigns, where drama matters more than a neutral look. If the piece seems to float, or the floor cuts into it, move the ground with the Y position slider until the shadow just meets the metal.

Need a cut-out?

Exports always carry a solid backdrop, so the studio does not produce transparent PNG files. The clean route to a cut-out is to choose Pure White with no ground, export a PNG and remove the background with any free background remover or the remove background tool in your design app. A plain white backdrop and crisp edges make that separation quick, and the PNG keeps every edge lossless while you work. If you want the piece in a real setting instead, AI product scenes place your render on marble, velvet, river stones and more.

Colour backgrounds and brand consistency

Coloured backgrounds are a branding tool. A jeweller who always shows rose gold on Blush, or high jewellery on Sapphire Night, becomes recognisable in a crowded feed. Pick one or two signature colours that suit your metals and use them everywhere outside the marketplace listings.

A few pairings that tend to work well:

  • Yellow gold glows on Sapphire Night, Emerald Depth, Deep Navy and Warm Cream.
  • Rose gold feels soft and modern on Blush, Mocha and Rose Gold.
  • White gold and platinum look crisp on Light Gray, Cool Mist and Pure Black.
  • Silver fashion jewelry reads clearly on Sage, Mint and Mono Fade.

Grounds for different jewelry types

Small pieces need small shadows. A stud earring with an XL shadow looks lost, and a heavy bangle with a soft shadow looks like it is floating. Start with soft or medium for rings, studs and pendants, and large or XL for bangles, bracelets, necklaces and sets laid flat. Reflective grounds work best for pieces with a strong silhouette, such as cocktail rings and statement earrings, because the reflection repeats the shape.

Keep a collection consistent

Use the same background and ground for every product in a collection. The 26 scene presets help, because each one sets background, lighting and ground together. Pick a scene for your listings and another for social media, and every new product slots straight into place.

Frequently asked questions

Is Pure White really pure white?
The Pure White preset uses RGB 255, 255, 255 as the backdrop. Marketplaces can be strict, so check a corner of the exported file with any colour picker before you upload.
Why does my ring look like it is floating?
Add a ground, then adjust the Y position slider until the shadow meets the bottom of the ring.
Can I export with a transparent background?
No. Every export has a solid backdrop. For a cut-out, export a PNG on Pure White with no ground and remove the background with any free background remover.
Can I use my own background photo?
Not as a real backdrop. The studio's image option only picks up the photo's average colour as a tint. For a real setting, export on Pure White, cut the piece out and place it on your photo in any design tool, or use AI product scenes to put the piece into a styled setting.
Why do new models open without a ground?
So you start from a clean scene. Different channels need different grounds, so you add the one you want instead of removing one you did not ask for.
